| Introduction |
Installing and configuring Hyperion can seem a little daunting at first. For a start the Oracle media pack for “Hyperion Performance Management and BI (9.3.1)” contains some 55 DVDs – even sorting these into some semblance of order is going to take some time. Then you’ll discover that the installation documentation alone occupies an entire DVD: its 33 cryptically named zip files each contain multiple documentation files – and not a “readme” in sight. Working through the many thousands of pages of installation documentation is an unenviable task.
Fortunately, installing and configuring Hyperion is not as difficult as the documentation makes it seem. In this set of articles we’ll take you through installation and configuration using a blow by blow set of screen dumps to illustrate each step. We’ll select the simplest set of options so that you can get Hyperion up and running as quickly as possible.

The key documentation installation zip file is “hsys9_93100_install.doc.zip”. This zip file contains the master documentation installation file “hsys9_install_start_here.pdf”. Most of this PDF consists of tables detailing hardware and software requirements and version compatibilities with other products. The key installation chapter is chapter 10, “Installation Sequence”.
