Load the “Enterprise Performance Management System Release 9.3.1 Start Here: Installation Documents and Readmes” DVD, unzip the master file, navigate to the “English” folder, unzip file “esb_93120_install_doc.zip”, and open file “esb_windows_install.pdf”.  The installation instructions are contained in chapter three.

 

 

Installation Process

 

The Essbase Server installation is straightforward with no prerequisites.  It installs the:

 

*  Essbase Server, and

*  Sample Applications.

 

Load the “Hyperion Essbase – System 9 Release 9.3.1.3 Server Windows Installer” DVD.  Unzip the master file, and copy its contents to a temporary installation directory.

 

To start the installation run file “setup.exe”.

 

When the language installation screen appears, select the installation language from the drop down list, and press “OK”:

When the welcome screen appears, press “Next”:

When the locale screen appears, select the country of your choice from the drop down list, and press “Next”:

When the licence screen appears, click on the “I Agree” radio button, and press “Next”:

When the home directory screen appears, browse to select a home directory for the Hyperion installation (the default is “C:\Hyperion”), and press “Next”:

When the Essbase Server directory screen appears, browse to select a home directory for the Essbase Server installation (the default is directory “AnalyticServices” under the Hyperion home directory), and press “Next”:

When the setup type screen appears, click on the “Typical” radio button, and press “Next”:

When the environment variables screen appears, click on the “Environment Variables” radio button, and press “Next”:

When the ESSLANG value screen appears, select “English (Latin1)” from the drop down list, and press “Next”:

When the confirmation screen appears, check the values, and, in the absence of error, press “Next”:

An installation in progress screen will appear.  Installation should take a few minutes on a typical desktop machine:

 

When the installation successful screen appears, press “Next”:

When the launch configuration utility screen appears, press “Finish”:

Now you have installed the Essbase server.

 

 

Menu Item

 

Navigate to “Start => All Programs => Essbase” and you’ll find that the following additional menu item has been added: “Essbase”.  This menu item can be used to start the Essbase server.
